The brief

Do anything.
Use one Room.

Tell a story with NPCs and Signs. Challenge players with parkour, enemies, and hazards. Construct a maze of portals and locked doors. Express your creativity any way you want, as long as the judged experience fits in a single Room.

You can create more Rooms, and we hope you do, but the judges will score only one.

How scoring works

Each judge scores every Room. All three scores are averaged, with a maximum score of 19 points.

Game Design

0-5

Use objectives, enemies, collectibles, and puzzle mechanics to make the Room fun.

  1. 0 Totally unplayable. Players cannot move or do anything on entry.
  2. 1 Playable, but there is nothing to do.
  3. 2 Mechanics or objectives make it more than a space to navigate.
  4. 3 The objective makes sense and every required object is present and usable.
  5. 4 The objective is fun and challenging.
  6. 5 Judges want to keep replaying for faster leaderboard times.

Level Design

0-3

Consider the layout, interesting routes, and whether reachable areas work as expected.

  1. 0 Totally unplayable. Players cannot move or do anything on entry.
  2. 1 The Room can be played.
  3. 2 Every area that looks accessible can be reached.
  4. 3 The Room is interesting to explore and may flow well into neighboring spaces.

Neighbors blocking travel from their side will not count against you.

Level Decoration

0-4

Use decorative tiles and objects to make the Room feel beautiful and complete.

  1. 0 Bare, with no decorative tiles or objects.
  2. 1 Some decoration is present.
  3. 2 Decoration supports the Room's theme.
  4. 3 Detailed, polished, and complete.

+1 bonus Lighting and weather enhance the mood.

Music

0-4

Use the music editor to create a mood for your Room.

  1. 0 The music is painful to listen to.
  2. 1 There is no music.
  3. 2 The music is listenable.
  4. 3 The music is catchy enough to hum after playing.

+1 bonus Multiple sequencer tracks create a longer song.

Storytelling

0-3

Add a narrative told through level design and text.

  1. 0 No story seems to be present.
  2. 1 Basic environmental storytelling.
  3. 2 Signs and NPCs convey more of the story.
  4. 3 The single-Room story hooks the judges and leaves them wanting more.

Entry and conduct rules

  • The Room must be a newly claimed space between July 20 and July 26.
  • Submit your username, connected email, and Room coordinates or URL by July 26 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time (NYC).
  • Make sure the coordinates match the Room URL so you do not submit the wrong Room.

  • Custom objects and backgrounds are allowed when your Build Level permits them, but they do not earn bonus points.
  • Prizes may be paid in USD through PayPal or in USDC to an Ethereum wallet address.
  • Judges will play experiences live on stream on Monday the 20th and record scores. Final results will be announced after every submission has been played and scored.
  • Judges' decisions are final. Harassment, score ranting, or other unsportsmanlike conduct can result in removal from events, WAMP, Discord, and related social spaces.
